Juden Villa
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Juden Villa transforms a sloped, contiguous site into a multi-level, mixed-use extension that balances functionality, privacy, and aesthetic harmony. The design accommodates the client’s need for independent rental accommodations and a dedicated space for a personal passion project while maintaining the tranquility of the existing home. Every decision reflects a careful negotiation between privacy, utility, and the natural contours of the land, ensuring that the extension feels purposeful and integrated.

At the heart of the project is the principle of separation. A fully independent exterior entrance and non-contiguous massing ensure that activity in the new extension does not intrude on the main residence. Spatial layering preserves both acoustic and visual privacy, allowing social interaction and quiet retreat to coexist naturally. Privacy becomes more than a design consideration, it defines circulation, orientation, and functional zoning throughout the building.

LAYERED FUNCTIONALITY
The slope of the site is embraced as a design feature. At the highest level, a showroom and garage showcase the client’s car collection, positioned for direct visual connection from the living room while maintaining privacy from the street. The intermediate level forms the architectural core, where a minimalist living space overlooks the showroom, central garden, and rear landscape.
Expansive glazing and cross ventilation fill the interiors with light and air, while the central garden and surrounding vegetation act as natural buffers from neighboring sightlines. Thoughtful roof overhangs and massing further enhance comfort and privacy, integrating each level into a cohesive spatial experience.

NATURE AND DURABILITY
The lower level accommodates private quarters, bedrooms, and a dining pantry. Construction responds to the environment with minimal excavation, ventilated retaining walls, and hidden foundation supports that protect both structure and mature trees. A rear terrace connects interior spaces to the landscape, allowing architecture and nature to coexist in harmony. Every element, from structure and ventilation to layout and massing, works in concert to create a resilient, thoughtful environment where modern design and the natural world exist in quiet equilibrium.
